SLAM’s Legacy Collection dives inside the archives to bring back some college basketball classics. Like the originals, we crafted each Legacy pair of retro shorts with the materials and details to honor the original designs. It was a labor of love in our pursuit to provide an era specific keepsake that celebrates the most iconic styles in college basketball history.

John Thompson's Georgetown Hoyas rolled through the regular season, winning the BIG EAST and BIG EAST Tournament.  Georgetown finished the season 25-3 and ranked #2 in the country.  That was good enough for to earn them a #1 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament.

Remarkably, the Hoyas needed a Patrick Ewing tip in late in their first round match up with SMU to survive and advance, 37-36.  It proved to be the only scare of the tournament as Georgetown marched all the way to the Final Four where they dominated Kentucky first and then Phi Slama Jama in the National Championship Game giving the school their first National Championship.

"They do everything a great team should do.  They don't care who scores, who takes the shots.  That's the difference.  They aren't a selfish team.  The unselfish team won tonight." -Hakeem Olajuwon
